TVM The Virtual Meeting
Visual Communications Software for Macintosh and Windows Computers
RTZ Background
RTZ Software
is a computer software and services company that develops and markets state-of-the-art software for distributed real-time multimedia conferencing that can operate on the LAN WAN or TELEPHONE networks that people are using today.
RTZ Software was founded in 1989 by
Seth Snyder
and
Jan Zimmerman
The company's goal is to commercialize the low bandwidth conferencing technology developed by RTZ.
RTZ began developing software based multimedia teleconferencing systems for the following reasons:
- Frustration over the low quality and high cost of video conferencing systems.
- A knowledge that most people didn't NEED the video part of video conferencing to get their jobs done. Tremendous increases in comprehension can be achieved when an Electronic WhiteBoard application is used in conjunction with a normal telephone call.
- A knowledge of what could be done with commonly available computer technologies like PC's and modems.
- A knowledge of how client/server systems could be deployed to inexpensively serve many purposes. .
- To promote collaborative technology that could be afforded by businesses, individuals and students.
- To take advantage of the trend of telecommuting and produce products that could be used to attend meetings from anywhere without travel.
- To take advantage of current trends in education towards distance learning and produce products that could be used to attend classes and lectures from home.
- To take advantage of the huge amount of multimedia tools and information that exist today by creating a technology that integrates all forms of multi media and allows them to be used to greatly enhance personal communications.
- To provide a new affordable broadcast medium that could be used to communicate by groups of people with similar interests.
