Two User Peer To Peer Conferencing
The Virtual Meeting Software can be used to connect two users together to collaborate while they are talking on a a telephone call. This is usually accomplished by using two phone lines one for the audio telephone call and one for the computer communications but there are other possible options as well .
- Simultaneous Voice and data modems have become available from ATT and others that allow one telephone line to be used for data and voice connections. Of course the same type of modem must be used on both ends of the connection for this to work.
- ISDN Basic Rate Interface lines also provide separate voice and data channels and have much higher data and audio bandwidth capability.
- Wide Area Networks can provide data connections between any two users on the same network. A single phone call can be used for the voice part of the connection.
- The INTERNET can provide data connections between any two users with Internet addresses. A single phone call can be used for the voice part of the connection. INTERNET telephone software is becoming available as well although the quality may not be as good as a telephone call.
Once Connected the two users in a Virtual Meeting can share documents and perform any functions that can be performed in a multi party conference. Although some of the features like raising your hand electronically or seeing the photograph of the current speaker might not have as much meaning in a two party conference.
