Business Situation: High cost of travel and facilities
Businesses spend great amounts of time and money to send workers to attend meetings and lectures in other geographical locations. They also spend ever increasing amounts of money on rent and utilities to house their workers and operations.
Customer Need: an effective way to lower travel and facilities costs.
Solution: Telecommuting with The Virtual Meeting Standard Edition
Telecommuting is increasing in popularity for several reasons. Employers don't need to pay for office space for telecommuters. Telecommuters save money in travel expenses often reducing the number of vehicles required per family. Telecommuters save time by eliminating commutes. Some telecommuters are able to manage child care themselves.
The Virtual Meeting can be used by telecommuters to attend meetings with their co workers from their homes or any other location they happen to be working from. Electronic presentations can be given using the QuickTime Movie and Slide Player. The WhiteBoard can be used to provide a shared workspace where drawing can be done in real time. The Whiteboard can also be used to view and annotate documents that have been created with other applications like word processors , spreadsheets, databases, etc.
Telecommuting using The Virtual Meeting maximizes financial resources, by eliminating travel time and costs and reducing facilities expenses.
The Virtual Meeting Standard Edition is available for Macintosh and Windows 3.1 and consists of the following software components for each user
Only one copy of The Conference Server Application is required for each simultaneous conference.
One copy of the Moderators Extension is required for each conference moderator
